ISO 14001:2026
Published 15 April 2026 with a 36-month transition. ISO 14001:2015 certificates expire no later than 14 April 2029. A new change management clause, climate and biodiversity written into context, and upstream and downstream impacts now explicit.

ISO 9001:2026
Targeted for September 2026, so nobody can certify to it today — and registrars need months to become accredited after it lands. If you are certifying now, certify to 2015. One change is already binding though: the climate amendment has applied since February 2024.

What we do
Five ways we work, whichever lane you're in
Wilkshire Consulting is a management systems consultancy in Troy, Michigan. Take all four, or just the one you're short on.
Most of what we do is one of four things. Consulting is the full build: we work out your scope, find the gaps, write what's missing and get you to the audit. That's the engagement people usually mean when they call.
Auditing is narrower and often cheaper. Internal audits, pre-assessments, gap analyses. If you've built a system yourself and want it tested before a registrar tests it, this is the one you want.
Training is delivered live to your people, because the competence clause is tested by interviewing your staff, not by checking a certificate exists. Documentation is writing the manuals and records around how you actually work. And once you're certified, maintenance keeps the internal audits and management reviews from quietly slipping.

Answers before you call
How long does ISO certification take?
For a single-site organization starting from scratch, roughly three to six months from gap analysis to certification audit — assuming the documentation work stays on schedule. Multi-site operations and R2v3 scopes with complex downstream vendor chains take longer. You get a dated plan at stage two rather than a guess.
What's the difference between ISO 14001 and R2v3?
ISO 14001 is a general environmental management standard for any organization. R2v3 is specific to electronics reuse and recycling, and adds requirements ISO 14001 doesn't cover — data sanitization, downstream vendor due diligence, and controls on how equipment is tested, repaired or shredded. Many recyclers hold both.
Do you write the documentation for us?
Yes. We write manuals, procedures, forms and records built around how your operation actually runs, then train your team to maintain them. A generic template pack is one of the faster ways to fail an audit.
Can you be our internal auditor?
Yes. Internal audits, pre-assessments and corrective action support are core services. That's separate from your certification body: a consultant can't also be your registrar, which is exactly why we stay independent of them.
What does a gap analysis include?
A clause-by-clause review of your current system against the standard, written up as findings with an owner and an effort estimate for each. You finish with a prioritized list of what to fix and in what order — useful even if you carry on without us.
Do you work outside Michigan?
Yes. We're based in Troy, Michigan and work with clients across the United States, remotely and on-site. Most implementation work runs remotely, with on-site visits for audits and training where they earn their keep.
How much does certification consulting cost?
It depends on scope: which standard, how many sites, and how much of a system you already have. That's what the free readiness call establishes. You get a fixed written quote before any work starts.
