About Wilkshire

We've been on the other side of the audit table

Wilkshire Consulting is a management systems consultancy in Troy, Michigan. We help manufacturers and electronics recyclers build systems that pass certification audits and keep passing them.

  • 2015Independent since
  • 100+ISO certifications
  • 50+R2 certifications
  • 5.0Google rating

Most certification consultants have implemented management systems. Fewer have sat on the audit side and written the nonconformities. That difference is the whole reason this firm exists, and it shows up in the specificity of the advice.

We work across two worlds that don't usually share a consultant: ISO management systems for manufacturers and service organizations, and R2v3 and RIOS for electronics recyclers and ITAD providers. The overlap is real — R2v3 requires a certified EH&S management system, and two of its appendices require a certified quality management system underneath, so knowing both saves clients from discovering that dependency late.

Leadership

  • Listed in SERI's R2 Consultant Directory
  • Completed the SERI R2v3 Auditor training course
  • 100+ ISO and 50+ R2 certifications supported since 2015

Before founding Wilkshire, Tony worked directly with certification body registrars as a project manager and lead auditor. That's an unusual route into consulting, and it's the reason our advice tends to be specific rather than general.

An auditor isn't assessing good intentions. They're looking for objective evidence that what your procedure claims is what actually happens on the floor, and after enough audits you learn which sentences in a document won't survive that comparison. Having written findings from that side of the table, Tony can usually tell you which ones you're going to get before you get them.

His background spans quality, environmental and health & safety management systems as well as the electronics recycling industry, which is why Wilkshire covers both ISO and R2v3 rather than specialising in one and referring out the other.

We're committed to the quality and integrity of everything we do — built on fairness, transparency, and a consistent goal of exceeding expectations while delivering measurable value.

“I completed the SERI R2v3 Auditor training course and advise facilities on R2v3 readiness.”

SERI's own approved wording, used exactly as written. Listing requires completing SERI's R2 Auditor Training course and passing the exam. SERI is clear that it is not an endorsement, and no consultant on it may claim to be “SERI-certified” or “R2 accredited.”

Five things we hold to

These aren't values on a wall. They're the specific commitments that shape what an engagement with us looks like.

  • No preferred registrar

No preferred registrar and no exclusive arrangements. When we tell you a certification body suits your scope, that's the only reason we're saying it.

  • Fixed fee against a written scope

You see what's included, what isn't, and what it costs before anything starts. We don't bill hourly against open-ended work.

  • We'll tell you when you don't need us

If your team can handle it in-house, or a smaller piece of work would do, that's the advice you get on the call. Overselling a system someone can't maintain helps nobody.

  • You own what we build

Editable files, document control your team understands, and a handover session. A system only its consultant can maintain is a system that decays.

  • Built to survive year two

Passing the certification audit is the easy part. We build for the surveillance audit and the one after that.

Where we stand

We are not a certification body, and we never will be

Certification audits and certification decisions are made independently by accredited certification bodies. A consultant who builds or internally audits your system cannot certify it — that separation is fundamental to how the schemes work, and it protects you.

We don't guarantee certification outcomes, and we'd be wary of anyone who does. What we do is make sure that when the auditor arrives, the evidence is there.

Questions

Common questions

Who will we actually work with?

Wilkshire is deliberately small. You work with the person doing the work rather than being handed to an account manager after the sales call.

Are consultants accredited the way certification bodies are?

No, and be sceptical of anyone implying otherwise. Accreditation applies to certification bodies, not consultants. What matters for a consultant is direct experience of how audits are actually conducted, which in our case came from working inside registrars.

Do we need a consultant at all?

Not always. Organizations with an experienced quality manager and time to spare often get there alone. Consultants earn their fee when the deadline is fixed, the internal capacity isn't there, or the cost of a failed audit outweighs the cost of preparing properly.

Can you guarantee we'll pass?

No. Nobody honest can. The certification body makes that decision independently. What we can do is make sure the requirements are met and evidenced before they arrive.

Where are you based, and do you travel?

Troy, Michigan, working with clients across the United States. Most implementation runs remotely, with on-site visits for audits, training and pre-audit walkthroughs.

How long have you been doing this?

Wilkshire Consulting has been operating since 2015, and has taken more than 50 electronics recyclers and ITAD providers through R2 certification alongside its ISO work.
