Wilkshire Consulting is based in Troy, Michigan, and has been since 2015. Most of our clients are within a few hours' drive, which for certification work matters more than it might sound: an internal audit means walking your floor, and pre-audit preparation is easier when someone can be there the week before your registrar arrives.

We work across the United States and take international engagements, but Michigan and the wider Midwest is home.

Why local matters for certification work

Most implementation genuinely runs remotely. Documentation, procedures, management review support and training all work fine over a call.

Three things don't.

  • Internal audits

You cannot audit a process from a spreadsheet. An internal audit means watching how the work is actually done and comparing it against what the procedure claims.

  • The pre-audit walkthrough

The week before a registrar arrives, someone should walk your floor the way the auditor will. That is when the last surprises turn up.

  • Training that has to land

Internal auditor training works far better in the room, because the practice audit runs against your real processes rather than a case study.

Coverage

Where we work from Troy

Southeast Michigan is a day trip. The wider Midwest is a comfortable drive or a short flight. Beyond that we still travel, and plenty of clients never need us on site at all.

  • Metro Detroit and Oakland County

Troy, Auburn Hills, Warren, Sterling Heights, Livonia, Ann Arbor and the surrounding manufacturing corridor. Same-day, routinely.

  • Michigan statewide

Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, Kalamazoo, Saginaw and the west side. Regular on-site work, usually planned around audit dates.

  • The Midwest and beyond

Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin are straightforward. Nationwide engagements run remotely with scheduled site visits.

Michigan is a manufacturing and recycling state

Which is why both halves of what we do have local demand. The automotive supply chain runs on ISO 9001 and increasingly on IATF-adjacent expectations flowed down from tier ones. Machine shops, fabricators and job shops get asked for certification by customers rather than choosing it.

And Michigan has a substantial electronics recycling and ITAD sector, where R2v3 is the credential customers ask for by name.

Not in Michigan?

That is genuinely fine. Most of our implementation work runs remotely, and we travel for the parts that need it. Tell us where you are on the call and we will be straight about whether being further away changes anything.

Common questions

Questions from local clients

Do you charge for travel within Michigan?

Travel within southeast Michigan is included in our fixed fee. Longer distances are agreed in the written scope before work starts, so there are no surprises on the invoice.

Can you come on site at short notice?

Usually, for local clients. It is one of the practical advantages of being nearby. If your registrar has moved a date or a finding needs closing quickly, say so.

Do you only work with Michigan companies?

No. We work across the United States and take international engagements where the fit is right. Michigan is simply where most of our clients happen to be.

Are you familiar with automotive supply chain requirements?

ISO 9001 is our core quality work and a great deal of it is with suppliers into the automotive chain. Note that IATF 16949 is a separate scheme with its own rules, and we would tell you if that is what your customer actually requires.
