Certification for the automotive supply chain

The problem

Blanket purchase orders arrive, daily material releases follow, and parts flow to tier-one plants on a cadence that punishes a missed step. This automotive supplier ran that order-to-ship rhythm with real discipline, but not one step of it was written down; every process lived in someone's head. Automotive customers treat ISO 9001 as table stakes, and ITAR registration added controlled-material handling to the list of things that had to be provable.

What we did

• Walked the floor and photographed every step of the order flow (blanket PO, material release, shipping plan, packing list, invoice, receiving inspection, pick list, label, ship), then turned those nine steps into the process documentation
• Built the QMS in 2022 with SOPs, work instructions, and a 26-form set covering training, supplier control, quarantine, calibration, and complaints
• Developed a visual appearance re-inspection work instruction after a customer component issue, turning a complaint into a controlled process
• Prepared the team for Stage 1 and Stage 2 with a structured audit-readiness checklist in 2023
• Coached management review and objectives so leadership could show the auditor how the QMS drives the business
