ISO 9001:2015 · Implementation and maintenance
Quality in a business that runs on velocity
A steel service center where the sales floor sets the pace and the phones never stop
Metals distribution · Sales-led · Growing headcount
- 4 yrsContinuous engagement since late 2022
- Rev 6.0QMS Manual kept current, not shelved
- 8+New hires onboarded through the QMS training record
- 4Annual policy-awareness cycles documented
The problem
Picture a steel service center that runs on velocity: quotes turned in minutes, material cut and on a truck the same week, relationships doing the work that procedures do elsewhere. Quality lived in people's heads and in long-standing customer loyalty. Then key accounts started making ISO 9001 a condition of continued supply, and a wave of new sales hires meant the tribal knowledge that held everything together was walking in the door with no consistent way to be learned.
What we did
- Built the complete QMS from a blank slate in late 2022: manual, quality policy, process interaction map, objectives, and a full form set covering supplier approval, quarantine, calibration, and customer satisfaction
- Designed a lightweight new-hire QMS onboarding record so every sales, purchasing, and inside-sales hire is trained and documented within days of starting
- Established an annual quality policy acknowledgment cycle captured by email, giving auditable evidence of awareness across the whole team every year
- Guided the service center through certification, then transitioned it into an ongoing Management System Maintenance Program
- Kept the system current through six QMS Manual revisions and three generations of the management review template as the business grew
Services: Full implementation · Certification support · MSMP retainer · New-hire QMS onboarding · Annual internal audit
