R2v3 · Scope extension
Adding two appendices without a resubmission
A global ITAD and electronics recycler with R2v3 already in hand, looking to cover more ground under the same certificate
International operations · Certified R2v3 facility · Enterprise clientele
- 7Documentation gaps closed for scope extension
- 1stSubmission accepted, no resubmission required
- 2New appendices added to certified scope
- OngoingMaintenance retainer client since extension
The problem
Holding R2v3 for core operations was no longer enough for this international recycler. Enterprise clients were asking for environmental and general management system coverage under the same certificate, and competitors were beginning to offer it. Extending certified scope is not a paperwork formality: it demands a targeted gap analysis, new controlled documents, and careful choreography with the certification body.
What we did
- Conducted a targeted gap analysis against the proposed expanded scope requirements (Environmental and General appendices)
- Identified seven documentation gaps and developed the additional controlled documents the extension required
- Updated the recycler's existing QMS documentation to reflect expanded scope boundaries and process interactions
- Coordinated the scope extension timeline and documentation readiness with the certification body
- Provided ongoing check-in support through the extension cycle
